More Than a Clay Class: A Tradition in the Making

Passover is a holiday of questions, and the Seder plate is the map that helps us find the answers. "Earth, Order, and Exodus" is a workshop designed for all levels that honors the idea that the objects we use to tell our stories should be as meaningful as the stories themselves.

The Foundation. We begin with the raw earth, using slab-building techniques to create the "Order" (Seder) of the plate. As we work, we’ll discuss the physical labor of Egypt and how our hands connect us to our history. This class is open to all skill levels. $10 fee holds place. $20 per pound of clay includes all firings and glaze. Plates will be ready to be glazed after two weeks. You are welcome to paint your pieces (no charge) during our Seder Plate Glazing session on Thursday, March 26th from 6-8pm.

A Community Seder. We conclude by gathering with our finished, fired plates to share a ritual meal on Saturday, April 4th at 6pm. Each participant brings a ritual food from their own family tradition, allowing us to see and taste the beautiful diversity of our collective story.
