Spring Break Camp
You don’t have to wait until June to enjoy the fun of our Summer Camp! Join us for the week of Spring Break (3/16 to 3/20) for fun clay hand building projects and pottery painting.
One Time Pottery Wheel Session
Learn the basics of wheel throwing from an experienced instructor. You’ll learn how the wheel works, how to center clay, open and pull walls to make useful shapes like bowls and cylinders.
A $25 deposit is required to reserve spot. Cost is $50 and includes first piece. Each additional piece is $5. Pieces are ready to glaze in 2 weeks. This class allows you to practice the basics and try your hand at any design you like! Your one-time class includes clay, instruction, trimming, bisque firing, painting in our Paint Studio and final glaze firing. Have a group of 5-11? We can also organize a private session for you. Family Play with Connie Nelson Laird: Pancakes!
Pancakes, Play & Pottery 🥞
Wrap up your spring break with Family Storytime at the Pottery House Studio! We’ll begin with a reading of the beloved children’s book If You Give a Pig a Pancake while enjoying pancakes with butter and syrup.
After the story, we’ll play with clay! Using clay coils and a few simple pottery techniques, participants will explore shaping and stacking clay to create their own pancake-inspired coil pot!
All ages welcome. Come listen, snack, play, and create!

Slab Plank Tray with Becky LaPadula
Create your own Plank Slab Tray in this step by step workshop. Lots of fun patterns to choose from. No experience necessary. $50 for first tray and $30 for each additional one. Please allow 10 days for it to be fired. After which time you will need to return to the studio to glaze your piece(s). Glazing and second firing are included in price.

The Aesthetic of Memory: Paint a Seder Plate Workshop with Rebecca Itow
The Aesthetics of Memory. We refine our work through texture and glaze, choosing a "Passover Palette" that speaks to journeys from narrow places to freedom. We’ll dive into the poetry of the Haggadah and the "Midrash" of design.
A Community Seder. We conclude by gathering with our finished, fired plates to share a ritual meal on Saturday, April 4th at 6pm. Each participant brings a ritual food from their own family tradition, allowing us to see and taste the beautiful diversity of our collective story.
$18 reserves your spot for this workshop and will be applied towards your bisque. We recommend reserving your piece beforehand if possible.
Underglaze Transfers on Wet Clay
Come make a small plate and a small bowl with slabs and choose from a variety of designs to decorate them with under glaze transfers. Lots of fun images and patterns to choose from! Open to all skill levels.
Pysanky Workshop with Natalie Kravchuk
Join Pysanky artist Natalie Kravchuk and learn the folk art of Pysanka writing, the decorating of eggs using wax and colored dyes, as has been practiced for thousands of years in Ukraine and other parts of Eastern Europe.
All supplies will be provided. You may work on as many eggs as time allows. We will be working with hot wax and dyes, so please dress accordingly.
The cost is $30 per person and includes all materials. Open to ages 9 and above. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Maiolica Plate Workshop with Susan Snyder
Learn how to paint traditional Maiolica patterns similar to those shown on the plates above in this step by step workshop. Open to ages 9 and up.
$60 Includes an 8” Hanging Plate, glazes and firing. Plate can be upgraded to a larger size for an additional fee.

Advanced Throwing Techniques with Jon Stein
Let's get those throwing skills in shape. Jon from Queen City Clay will cover ways of throwing efficiently and show how to get past the typical frustration points people experience on the wheel. As a group, we will learn to throw taller, thinner, and with more control. Texture will also be explored by applying stamps and shaping forms on the wheel. This class will include 15lbs of our recycled clay (more clay is available for purchase), all firings, glazing and lunch.
Animal Figures with Sara Torgison
This workshop will focus on hollow building strategies for rendering animal subjects in clay. Students will be encouraged to consider form, structure and texture in ceramic surface treatments through exploration of small animal figures. Class will cover capturing likeness in pinch and coil techniques and honing skills in noticing and recording important details. Students will be guided through planning with photo references, intitial shaping, and forming a base structure. We will then dive into detailing and surfacing. Finishing techniques including underglaze and slip application will be discussed. Students should come prepared to make one small animal and have access to images either printed or saved on a mobile device. Beginner friendly, some handbuilding experience is helpful.

Family Play with Clay Time: Playing with Pinch Pots!
Spend time together creating with clay in this relaxed, family-friendly workshop. After reading the story about sibling love and patience, participants will learn how to make pinch pots and make their own unique pinch pot creation! There are endless possibilities to be formed with your hands from a functional bowl to hold an afternoon snack to a decorative piece to brighten your home!
This playful session is designed for all ages and focuses on process, connection, and creativity. $10 registration fee per person (includes storytime, snack + studio playtime)
$20 per pound of clay for creations (includes clay, glazes & 2 firings)
Creations will be fired and ready for you to return and glaze with your own unique color choices and designs in about 10 days. They will go back in the glaze kiln and will be ready about a week later!

February 16th, Afternoon Pottery Camp
Note: MCCSC will be using this day as a make up for the Snow Day.
Pinch pot Vessels with Jamas Brooke
This class will focus on the moment of contact with clay during the pinch pot vessel creation process.
Students will be making 2 vessels using a stoneware clay body including. $75 includes all materials and firings. Participants will need to return after 2 weeks to glaze.

Wall Hanging Tea Lights with Mika
Make your own Wall Hanging Tea Lights in this step-by-step hand-building workshop with Mika Liechti Hawkins. $30 covers the cost of all materials and use of tools. Pottery will be ready in two weeks to be glazed and fired.
Soup Bowl Workshop
Learn how to make a soup bowl using slabs of clay and texture making tools in this step-by-step workshop. One bowl will be for you and the other will be donated to the Hoosier Hills Food Bank Soup Bowl Benefit. Bowls will be ready to be glazed after 2 weeks. All materials and firings are included in the price ($45).

All Ages Pottery Pizza Night
Come enjoy the last days of summer for our first Family Pottery Pizza Night. Open to all ages. A $10 non-refundable ticket price reserves your spot for this special event and 2 slices of pizza and drink but does not cover the cost of the item you want to paint. Youth 10 and under is $7 and includes 1 slice. A $3 credit will be added towards their purchase. Additional refreshments will be served.

One-Week Studio Access Training
A great option if you have previous clay experience and cannot commit to a session of pottery classes. Students have access during our regular hours from Sunday, December 28th until Saturday, January 4th and get a 15 lb bag of reclaimed stoneware clay, a cubby for storing work, access to glazes and firing of work. Additional clay is available for purchase.
The cost is $125 to reserve your spot. Pieces will be fired within 2 weeks and you will receive a text for pick-up. At that point you are welcome to bring them in and glaze at any time. Glaze is included in the cost. There will be a mandatory studio training seminar to cover studio procedures on Sunday at 1pm.
